My Story
Hi, I'm Aidan, and I used to be the co-owner of AC Interiors, an award winning Design and Build firm based out of Oakville, Ontario. I've learned a lot, worked a lot and I’m excited to bring my knowledge, experience and expertise forward with my new firm Design Democracy. This new firm focuses on creating beautiful bespoke spaces at a pleathera of price points.
I initially got into this business by buying and flipping my own homes. People began asking me to help them with their homes and the rest is history. I loved spacial planning and reimagining what a home could be. Every home has its foibles and that is what excites me about design. Kind of like rules to a game, there are rules and regulations to each home that must be followed. Some are structural considerations and others are setback regulations. Regardless what rules we need to play by, a house can always serve us better than it does in its existing state.
As my previous firm grew, we began moving towards building. There is nothing wrong with that, however building is expensive and as a result, is only available to those that can afford to build. I asked myself, what about everyone else?
I believe that good design should be accessible to all and I started to think through how great and well balances spaces could be available to more people. I've created some tiers(and tiers within tiers) in the hopes that great design can be available to more people.
Tier One:
E-Design: I've started creating carefully curated boards that are generic enough to fit a plethora of spaces. These boards have the exact furniture, cabinet profile, wall color and other elements that go into creating a finished cohesive space. By having this "roadmap," you can execute your space on a timeline that suits you and you can buy all or some of the items in the board depending on your space allowance. The mental and artistic gymnastics have already been done and you can rest assured that all elements combined in the boards will work!
Tier Two:
Design Phase: Whether you need boards and drawings for the entire house, or a furniture plan for one room, we create a design that is custom to your needs and reimagined space. Before these bespoke designs are created, much information is gathered through consultation, questionnaires, meetings etc. to insure we have everything we need before we put any pen to paper!After all tweaks and sign offs, we start to make whats in the board your reality!
Things that Don't fit into Tiers:
Perhaps you are happy with your home, but it needs some minor tweaks. Maybe you need a colour consultation or furniture layout suggestion and plan. We can help. After all, not everything requires a construction overhaul!
Living in a well balanced space creates a peaceful atmosphere to do life in. Life is stressful enough which makes coming home to a well laid out, functional and uniquely you home, all the more important. That is why I do what I do.
